Sisters of Life took the charism of life down south as they traveled the beautiful state of Florida! The heat was more than just the temperature— but the fire of the Holy Spirit! We began our trip in Gainesville, FL with the Students for Human Life Club on the University of Florida’s campus. Sr. Bethany Madonna spoke to 30 students about the gift of human life and God’s plan for human sexuality. We were deeply moved by the fidelity and passion of the students, who led us through the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet outside of a local abortion clinic. “The light shines in the darkness and the darkness will not overcome it!” (Jn 1:5) The next morning we were joined by 20 women at a “meet and greet” breakfast on campus, sharing the gift of consecration and the beauty of this call to love.
The grace continued as we traveled to the University of Central Florida for a day on campus with students from the Catholic Campus Ministry. What a joy to see such new life among the young adults in Orlando! Next stop: an hour south in Melbourne, FL where we met up with 200 young adults at a Young Adult Conference entitled, “God Speaks.” Our days in Melbourne included an evening with high school students at a Life Teen Mass and youth group at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, and a visit to Sr. Bethany’s alma mater, Melbourne Catholic High School, speaking to students of the goodness of the human heart and our capacity to live and love in accord with the truth. “God looked upon all He had made and saw that it was VERY good.”
